New Jewelry Sneak Peeks

Just a quick peek at some new jewelry I've been working on....
I'll be introducing these & some other new pieces tomorrow night at the Clockwork Carnival :)
Stop in downtown at Liquid tomorrow eve to check these out & join in the fun: it will be an evening of steampunk costumes, music, dancing, & fun :)
If you don't make it down the to Liquid tomorrow, I will be listing the new creations on my Etsy shop next week.   There are some fun new pieces; lots of lenses, keys, steampunk-ish treasures, & more.
Send me a note if you see something you like: these are all one-of-a-kind pieces; I don't have the parts to make more once they're gone...

Have a happy/sunny weekend :)

Aternative Bouquets Featured on: BestHudsonValleyWeddingsEver.com

 From: www.besthusonvalleyweddingever.com

Alternative Wedding Bouquet Inspiration

Share
I love bouquets. In fact, they’re probably one of my favorite parts of the wedding ensemble. I think that I love them so much because they can truly express what you feel in a way that words cannot.
But what if you’re allergic? Or you just don’t like roses or callas or any of the other "traditional" flowers? That would be awful! Can you imagine walking down the aisle sneezing the whole way? Or what if you just like to think outside the box? I’m a huge fan of being original--and what a great way to channel your originality!
So... what types of alternatives are out there?

Wire Bouquets

I think that I’ll start off with my new favorite. Wire bouquets. I love the whimsy and the blend of hard and soft. It’s almost poetic, don’t you think?
They’re absolutely stunning, aren’t they? You could even add in some greenery, feathers, or other accents to make it truly yours.

Pinwheels

Not a fan of the industrial look? Never fear. If you’re into whimsical, then you’re going to love these pinwheels! They’re straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Alice in Wonderland. Come to think of it... if you’re doing a theme wedding, these would rock!
How perfect would these be for your bridesmaids and flower girls? If pinwheels aren’t your style, you may want to consider fabric.

Fabric Bouquets

These are gorgeous. I love the endless choices and the amazing combinations.
With fabric bouquets, you have so many options. It truly is an endless opportunity.
Do you like bright tones? Muted? Patterned? Many of the talented artists over at Etsy will custom-make your bouquet--what about using the outfit you were wearing when he proposed? Or when he first asked you out?
If you still need more inspiration for an alternative bouquet, I have a few more that I would love to share with you:
The best part about all of these bouquets? You’ll have your bouquet forever. What a great keepsake! If you want to do flowers and an alternative bouquet, consider having floral bouquet to use for the actual bouquet toss (yes, some of us still do that). And you should probably definitely do that if you opt for the wire bouquet... just as a safety precaution.

A Couple More Digital Collages for you :)

This one is a fav...  Love the quote :)
I'm still having a blast playing around in Photoshop to make these...  And, it's forcing me to push my skills in the program & learn new techniques & commands: picking up a lot of great shortcuts & teckniques for future projects (makes me feel a bit better about spending so much time playing around ;)
love this one too: makes me think of M &M ; )
2 of the best gal-pals I've ever met!

Again; these collages were created by me, using elements from various scrap-booking & digital collage kits, along with photoshop brushes, & a bit of my own flourishes...  Please feel free to download & use them on your desktop, phone, etc : )

Another Offbeat Wedding with one of my bouquets :)

Kelley & Seth's pseudo-Victorian key-themed gaming wedding

Seth & Kelley Formal Wedding Portrait
The offbeat bride: Kelley, Actor, Filmmaker, Programmer, and QA Analyst (and Tribe member)
Her offbeat partner: Seth, Contract Lawyer, Musician, and Sound Engineer
Location & date of wedding: Ceresville Mansion, Frederick, MD — January 29, 2011
What made our wedding offbeat: My husband and I host a monthly game night at our house, so we made sure to incorporate gaming into both our ceremony and reception. In addition to a dinner menu placed on every table, we had a gaming menu! Some of the games available were Jenga, Star Trek Uno, Magic the Gathering, and Apples to Apples.

Playing with Photoshop: Digital Collage--too much fun!

I have been playing around in Photo-shop...& having way too much fun!
OMG: I think I have found a new obsession with digital collage/mixed media...

Wait, back up---I am taking an online course right now called Soul Restoration; a lot of assignments/projects for the class have to do with art-journals, collage, etc.  So, when looking at doing some of the projects-instead of going with the mod-podge, scissors, & glitter: I decided to give the digital route a try.  Been dabbling with Photoshop for years & this seemed like the perfect excuse to dive in & really try out something super creative....
Yep: I'm hooked, lol...
These images are my "truth cards"--little positive reminders to help me remember the best parts of myself when I forget or feel insecure...   I will be printing them out to go in a special box in my inspiration room, & might even have them printed as Moo Cards.  And, trying to figure out how to size them right for my phone background...
Most of the elements that make up these collages came from Scrapbook-Elements.com  and
Creative Victorian   So much fun stuff to play with!!
The more I play with things, the more ideas I have---been downloading all kinds of free brushes, fonts, etc to use on the next cards : )
I have dabbled with this sort of thing a bit: in creating my website/blog graphics: omg--the possibilities of turning some of my best real-life metal designs into digital elements...hmmmmm; lots of ideas for future projects....
For now though, I'm having fun just playing :)
Love the colors, textures, sparkles, etc...
If you haven't noticed: there is a compass (in some form) on each of the cards: this is my personal guide & will probably end up on everything I do for this class.  The visual really helps me envision my "true north."
And of course; the gears, hardware, clocks, & other steam punk-ish elements : )  So much fun!

Please feel free to copy/download any of these cards for your own personal use if they inspire you:  print them out; magnet them to your fridge,  put them on your desktop, etc...Have fun :)  Sometimes a little reminder is all we need to find our inspiration...
