New Wall Pieces...

Some pics of new wall art; I've been working on some new things for the opening at the Green Antelope---it's coming right up--the 15th!!! I'm slightly stressed about getting everything done; still have more wall art to make, got some outdoor pieces to make, also got some benches that need to be done before we go, etc etc.

More later; got to get to work!!

moving sculptures...

Whew!! Last week was lots of work; I'm still sore & covered in bruises.... We stared off on Tuesday with the Top Projects Awards night; the IBR had asked me if I would want to place some sculptures on site for the party....so, Kevin & I loaded up the new ones & headed down to the new AGC building: we set them up in the heat of the afternoon, along with a couple others that we ran over to Foxtrot for: it was a mad dash to get everything ready, including ourselves for the party at 4, but we did it!!

The party was lots of fun; everyone seemed to like the trophies I made, & I met lots of good contacts: got lots of follow up to do this week...

The next morning, we showed up again, & loaded up the smaller pieces, then over to Foxtrot to gather some more stuff--& headed up the McCall around 2. Unloaded, just in time to be invited out to dinner on a sailboat on the lake---which was so nice!!! The next day was spent moving things into place at the Gallery, & running to a couple houses to talk about some custom work... Then, back on the road to home... Friday was an unload the truck & clean up day, then went up to Idaho City on Sat to help my fam with the cabin project. Yesterday: major clean-up & organizing to get ready for this week!!

The bigger new pieces art still downtown; going to ask if we can leave them until we make the trip up to Sun Valley... They look great where they are... check it out:

Hydrogen VS Electric

Came across this article at Physorg.com. I had been talking about this hydrogen vs electric car issue with a friend and this chart summed things up quite nicely I thought.  I haven't read the research behind it and i'm sure there are arguments both ways.  Both certainly still have a long way to go technologically but electric has always made sense for me personally due to the simplicity of generation and transmission (that is, once the electricity is created it is not converted to another form again), as is shown in the chart below.

Perhaps it will be a case of hydrogen for certain uses and electric for others (or air perhaps?). What does everyone think about this hydrogen vs electric debate?

New Piece done!

Finally finished up the new one we've been working on every night!!! So excited: I really like the way it looks...the neighbors keep driving by & staring--ha ha! This one is just over 12 feet (darn it-I was wanting taller...) & it's all bolted together--poor Kevin had to drill & tap all the holes by hand! But the look of the plates bolted on is awesome....I'll definately be doing more of this in the future--also makes the whole thing come apart easily for transport.
Tomorrow is the IBR Awards & I'll be introducing it for the 1st time--curious to see what people think (and nervous too). Check it out....

New Work Update...

Been working on the curving gear tall piece for the last week; slow progress when I have to wait for husband to get home from work to help me move pieces around... But, we got it stood up last night!! Very exciting....it looks amazing, I cant wait to mount the gear & add the cables....

Works in Progress

We found these huge concrete things at a salvage yard; I'm proposing to make a table, a couple benches, garden wall, & sculpture out of them; we got 6!! For the table, a hefty steel base, with a planter or firepit insert in the opening; same thing for a bench. Stand one up to make a garden wall with a window... Lots of ideas; I couldn't resist taking them!!

This is one I've been working on for awhile now, on & off.... I'm wanting to have it finished up for the IBR event on the 15th, & then take it up to the Green Antelope next month... The whole thing is going to be around 14 feet tall; the gear will be suspended between the 2 curving pieces with cable. I'm also going to add a copper design to the gear for a bit of color.... It's going to be a stunning piece when all done; maybe a new favorite...

Another in progress; hoping to finish up today (at least with the fabrication...) This one is about 7 feet tall; made out of plate steel; very heavy! But is does come apart into 5 pieces, so we can handle it... There are just a few horizontal surfaces on it; I'm planning on adding an unexpected element; maybe a glass sphere, or something copper.... This one will also go to the IBR event, & then probably up to McCall...
And, this one; the red piece spins....I'm not sure yet about this one; I have some more chain to add & a few other pieces; we'll see when its all finished....

New Gallery!

I've been invited to display some large outdoor pieces & have a room of wall hangings: with a reception on the 15th of August! Check out the website at www.greenantelope.net
Located in Bellvue, just outside of Hailey, which is just outside of Sun Valley: I'm really excited to have some of my work in the area... I made a trip up there a couple weeks ago to meet Brooke & her mom, who run the gallery: I think that we will have a good relationship & I like the space.... It's a cute little old house thats been remodeled into gallery space, with a nice yard outback with big trees & space for larger work.
Now, I gots to get busy!!! I'm working on some new big pieces that I'll be taking up, along with a couple old favs. Got to make some new wall pieces; smaller ones to fit on some side wall space, & get together a collection of jewelry too!! I better get to work....

Etsy Store

I opened my store a couple months ago, only listing a few things; jewelry & wedding bouquet/tree toppers. I just finished up my 1st custom wedding bouquet order & got rave reviews, & have been contacted for more; the bouquets are getting a lot of attention on the store---will be adding the ones that are up in McCall: going up on the 16th & will bring them home... Anyway, I've also been working on more jewelry in the evenings & adding to the store; check it out at http://refinerii.etsy.com

Custom bouquet & new fuse necklace

Other new necklaces....
Although a lot of the prices on Etsy seem to me to be too low, I'm optimistic that as I add more to the store, things will sell. It would be nice to have a bit of extra $ here & there... When I get a few more things listed, I'm planning on doing an announcement: letting everyone on my list know that they can buy things online now: hopefully that will be a nice option for those who don't get into the galleries... We'll see :)
